Google Penguin vs Google Panda

What was the difference between Google Penguin and Google Panda updates?

When Google Panda rolled out, everyone started talking about duplicate content and websites that used duplicate content as a factor to rank on the top of Google were frantically deleting the duplicate content to avoid getting penalized by Google.

Google Penguin was about low quality links. It’s about off-site spam – bad, unnatural links and etc.

Google actually had three updates over the space of a week. In summary, the update was to address the unnatural links that web masters used to manipulate SERPs.

What exactly is a Low Quality Link?

Ones that are created by hundreds or thousands at the click of a button.

Have Anchor Text being devalued?

In some instances, yes. Only when the link pattern starts to look manipulative through anchor text. Anchor text is still important but there would be a negative impact if you start to overdo it.

How will Link Building 1 year from now?

Webmasters are scrambling to un-link their websites from spammy websites after Google rolled out their updates. Link building will still be a huge SEO component but web masters have to be careful with link building.

Why did Google name it’s updates Penguin and Panda?

Google intend to name its updates after a series of animals at the zoo. In the future, we will have Tiger, Panda, Kangaroo and etc.
